V|100 Luncheon, Mountainpalooza and vacation

Published on June 14, 2007

I’ve got a couple of things to blog about so I thought I’d just throw them into one big post.
V|100 Luncheon
I just returned from the V|100 annual luncheon at Thanksgiving Point. It was a great event. Former Dell CEO, Kevin Rollins was the speaker. He delivered a speech on entrepreneurism and then took questions. The [...]

Taking the summer off

Published on May 19, 2007

I had such a great day outside with family and neighbors. We had a big barbecue and played a game that was some kind of softball/kickball hybrid. It was a lot of fun.
So I think I’m going to reserve blogging this summer only to posts about work related stuff and mountainpalooza. Hopefully that means you won’t see more [...]

More on Mountainpalooza

Published on May 11, 2007

I thought I would write a little more on mountainpalooza to let you know what it is and what it is not.
What it is:

A bunch of dudes (ladies are welcome too) who like to get together on bikes and have a good time.
A lot of down hill exhilaration (we ride the lift up)
A lot of local entrepreneurs [...]

May Mountainpalooza announcement

Published on May 10, 2007

Mountainpalooza is on!  All are welcome.
May 25th at Sundance - we usually get a half day pass (only $14) and ride later in the afternoon. If you don’t have a bike you can rent one but that makes for a spendy afternoon.
Make it known in the comments of this post if you’re coming - I’ll [...]

Working smart is more important than working hard

Published on May 7, 2007

I used to be one of those guys who thought that if you put in long hours, got lots of email and had numerous people reporting to you then you were important and worked hard. It wasn’t until I got into one of those positions that I realized that being in middle management is no different [...]

Interested in getting better at photography?

Published on May 3, 2007

I really enjoy photography. I got into it a couple of years ago but I have never really taken this hobby to the next step and made a real effort to get good at it. I have so much to learn. I’ve thought about taking classes but they always conflict with my schedule.
I’m wondering if [...]

“We attack at dawn”

Published on May 1, 2007

Are you thinking about quitting? Do you think you have it tough? Consider this communication sent by a U.S. Special Forces unit behind enemy lines in the early part of the 2001 Afghan war:
Three days no sleep…
Three days no food…
Two days no water…
Down to ten rounds each…
We attack at dawn.
Think about that the next time [...]

Announcing my future candidacy

Published on April 16, 2007

Russ Page and Connor Boyack had a great idea to get everybody together in a collaborative blogging effort to talk about the importance of voting. I must admit that I have been very “disenfranchised” with our current state of affairs. Even so, I still feel that voting is important. Its one of the only ways we [...]

Blogging code of conduct

Published on April 9, 2007

Well it looks like Tim “I need more attention” O’Reilly has proposed a blogging code of conduct and its getting press - the front page of the New York Times no less. This all comes in the wake of recent death threats against blogger, Kathy Sierra.
While I certainly do not condone death threats I think O’Reilly’s proposal may be [...]

Taking a step back

Published on March 23, 2007

I’ve decided to take a step back from blogging for awhile. I tried to do this several months ago but I got sucked back in. Phil is right - I’ve been too critical on my blog lately. I think that’s mainly because there is a direct correlation between controversial posts and traffic. I’ve seen my traffic [...]
