Being in the first position in any market is difficult to maintain and Apple is no exception with the iPod. YouGov’s brand awareness index shows a steady drop in Apple’s brand popularity. Furthermore, Apple has delayed the launch of several new iPod products, which has caused their stock to drop. Customers are now more vocal about problems with the iPod. I know I’ve had my share with my video iPod - It crashes on me constantly. Now that the sheen seems to be wearing off the lemmings look less and less willing to blindly endorse the iPod in the mists of so many problems.
On top of all that, Apple’s VP of iPod Marketing has the b***s to blame the customer for quality problems. Read more here. If I were Microsoft I’d get the “iPod killer” to market ASAP and kick them while they’re down.
