I was going through my linkedin profile this morning. Boy do I need to make some update, clarifications, and changes. Its hard to stay on top of sometimes. As I was going through the profile I hit my recommendations section. What a great resource! I have 15 recommendations on Linkedin and I think its probably one of the most valuable resources on the site. If anyone is looking to hire you or to partner with you and they don’t know you or know much about you then - to gain some credibility - point them to your Linkedin recommendations. Here are a couple of mine:
From Nathan Nelson:
“The new economy requires new economy leaders. Whether you refer to them as Level 5 Leaders (Good to Great) or by some other designation, these individuals are the avant-garde. They are experienced, smart and make connections — not just knowledge, topical or content connections, but resource connections, combining financial and human capital in complex networks to execute deliverables. Chris is one of the avant-garde. Chris gets it.”
From Jeremy Hanks:
“I’ve known Chris for 15 years. We worked together directly at GearTrade. Chris is one of the smartest guys that I know. He has the ability to see a problem, see its solution, and then implement that solution with focus and efficiency. To this day, I bounce things off of Chris all the time to find out his thoughts to help me with problems I face. Chris is solid like a rock.”
From Philipp Chipping:
“In a day and age when the Internet and Web 2.0 makes working with others happen via keystrokes and social networking sites, it’s refreshing to be able to work face-to-face with someone who is so personable and fun, yet at the same time so educated, knowledgeable and creative. Chris has a keen grasp of the high-tech world, marketing and entrepreneurship (which just happens to include a very large array of other areas) and I recommend him wholeheartedly. When it comes down to it, business is still done with people, and it’s nice to enjoy working with the right people. Chris is one of those guys.”
I want to thank everyone who has recommended me on Linkedin! I really appreciate you taking time to help me build a valuable database of positive recommendations from such great people!
If you have been lax about building your Linkedin recommendations then I highly suggest you look into it. The best way to get started is to recommend those you currently work with and have worked with in the past. Remember, its important to offer a genuine recommendation - don’t fluff it. In no time at all you’ll find that you will have also built a highly valuable reference center for yourself while helping a friend do the same.
