What a crazy week. I blink and its Friday. I can’t believe its almost March! I’m taking the kids to Disneyland in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait for the break. So here’s a real random round up…Â
Here’s five things I’m thankful for this week:
I had a great meeting with some of the guys from Grow Utah and another company that has an interesting new idea. That meeting brought up so much of what I said about sales and marketing in this post.
Here’s an additional thought: if I told you that I was going to be the COO or CFO in a new start up, what would you think? You’d laugh, right? Why? I have an MBA so I must be qualified…right? Well not exactly. You see, that’s not who I am and its not where my skill sets are. I had the same reaction (or I should say “thought”) when a former CFO told me he was his new company’s pitchman. Being good at sales and marketing requires gaining specific skills and knowledge in no different way than a good computer programmer or a CFO gains their skills.
The US flexed a little muscle today to show the Russians and Chinese that our missile defense system works pretty darn good:
Man, that looked like the Death Star blowing up. Cool.
Finally, here’s the best quote of the week:
“Historians will reveal in years to come how we allowed ourselves to be convinced by people who were supposed to report what others with expertise have to say. Instead, they trained us to accept corporate media enterprises hiring good talkers to interview each other. The result — a perpetual loop of stunning superficiality.”
That’s a brilliant assessment of the media and a damning truth about the American public.
Have a nice weekend…
Don’t get me started on the media. It’s a dog and pony show of ridiculous entertainment no different than reality TV. Half of it is staged.
Sex. Hatred. Fighting. Dishonesty. Politicking, etc…
When Anne Coulter makes the Huffington Post because someone saw her credit card get denied.
