David Walker, the Comptroller General of the United States and head of the GAO, has resigned. This is a very sad day for America.

More on David Walker here.

  1. The American people should be outraged by the problems Walker pointed out - except for the fact that a large percentage are engaged in the same conduct as our government - spend as much as you can and hope someone else will sort out the mess later.

It is a sad day when one of the few people with the courage to announce that the emporer has no clothes cannot get many people to listen.

  3. Walker does not get anyone to “listen” because voters never support candidates who call for cuts to anything. MAny so-called “fiscal conservatives” really think that the problems are waste fraud and abuse. There is some of that, but everyone will have to share the pain - less benefits for more taxes. No politician can sell that, so Walker went largely ignored. The voters get the government they deserve.

  4. A sad day that Walker is stepping down but hopefully as the the head of the Peterson Foundation Walker can bring attention to the current financial problems that many people chose to ignore.
