Should I buy a BlackBerry Pearl?

Posted by Chris Knudsen on December 22nd, 2007

I popped into the Verizon store today to check out the phones. I’ve been wanting to get a BlackBerry or some other productivity device. I found out that after January 10th I’m eligible to get a BlackBerry Pearl for only $50! Sounds like a great deal to me.

Do you own a Pearl? If so, what do you like and not like about it. Do you suggest I get it? If not, is there another device you’d suggest I look at?

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!

  1. I bought my Pearl about six months ago, and I love it. The apps that I have installed, I can’t live without. Gmail client, about a million times better then Blackberry mail is awesome. Google Maps, that now have location based searching is cool. And, I can sync my Blackberry calendar with Google calendar. Pretty nifty. The real winner is Google Talk, that I am addicted too. I can keep in touch with anyone, anywhere. The $30 a month for service from AT&T is kind of steep, but I love my Blackberry. The only thing that would pull me away is the iPhone, but withour Google Talk… I might wait.

  3. I’ve been using a Pearl for the past 8 months or so and mostly love it. I’m not doing a lot of email or web surfing away from the desk, so I really like the small size and mobility, and I have access if I need it and for basic/quick email. I get frustrated with the small keyboard when I’m trying to type longer emails, but overall I’ve been very happy with it.

  4. Pearl is still my fav. I thought I’d hate the small keyboard. I love it. I love a phone that is the size of a PHONE but packs all the data features. Nothing on the market has impressed me in the past year — love the “idea” of the iPhone but it didn’t work for me. I’m looking forward to wifi and true HTML email on a BlackBerry. Gmail client let’s you read email, but it doesn’t preserve links (all my Google Alerts are worthless if you want a link).
