I was trying to stay offline for the last four days but I failed. So here are some interesting links and recommendations from my awesome Thanksgiving weekend…Â

Text messaging and social networking are not only addicting but they are also destroying our children’s ability to communicate in person and through voice. Here’s an excerpt:
“Pierce’s previous research on communication dependence by teens documented the risks of using social-networking sites such as MySpace.com, including lower grades in school and possible exposure to pornography.
The numbers from this latest study, examining whether students are ‘addicted’ to technology, showed that more than half spent more time sending text messages than they had intended or were preoccupied with thinking about the next time they could text. More than one-fifth said they’d had conflicts with relationships and jobs over their technology use.
Ten percent of the college students and 6 percent of the high-schoolers surveyed said they spend seven or more hours a day text-messaging.
Pierce found that 50 percent of students send and read text-messages during class — which didn’t surprise her.
As a professor, she knows the ‘texting look.’
‘They’re zoned out. They’re glancing down. They’re not hearing anything you’re communicating.’”

Data gathered from Facebook’s advertiser tool reveals that nearly 2/3 of the profiles on Facebook are female. Here’s some other interesting stats.Â
On a similar note, I finally agree with Mike Arrington on something: Alexa is pure crap.

I just completed the book Crash Proof by Peter Schiff. Although the book focuses on how to protect your assets its also an excellent and strait forward read on how we got into our current bad economic situation. I highly recommend you read this book.
I also just pre-ordered Pat Buchanan’s new book Day of Reckoning. Ever since Pat bailed on the Republican Party and went strait conservative his books have been timely and prophetic.
Have a great week.
