Did you know…
-You can request your FBI file. Have you ever been to a political rally, signed a controversial petition or been to a seedy third world county? If so, you may have an FBI file. Request yours here.
-Some British have resorted to pulling out their own teeth because they cannot find - or cannot afford - a dentist, a major study has revealed. I can’t wait until we get socialized medicine in the US!
-The first baby boomer has applied for Social Security. According to the experts that’s not a good thing.
-Lawyers are now outsourcing their work to India. Which begs the question: why can’t I bypass the middle man and just hire my own India-based lawyer for $20 hr?
-There’s a movement to rebuild the twin towers just as they stood pre-9/11. Here’s a comment from one of the supporters:
“Let’s build them back the way there were only taller and strong then put some anti-aircraft guns on the roof just below the biggest American flag you’ve ever seen.”
-Bob Jones III now backs Mitt Romney. That could be the tipping point Romney needs to get the Christian right on his side, which would lead to him winning the GOP nomination. With Giuliani firmly pegged as a social liberal, the Christian right may have no other choice but to back a Mormon for president. Oh the irony. Said Bob Jones:
“As a Christian I am completely opposed to the doctrines of Mormonism. But I’m not voting for a preacher. I’m voting for a president. It boils down to who can best represent conservative American beliefs, not religious beliefs.”
I like how the guy can take a shot at the LDS Church while endorsing one of its members for President. Nice one, Bob.Â
-In related news, nearly 77 percent of those questioned in a new CNN–Opinion Research Corporation poll say the fact that a candidate is a Mormon would not be a factor in the way they vote for president. Frankly, I find it hard to believe that the country has had such a dramatic change of heart in such a short period of time.
-CPM’s in the online video space are horrible. If you have a company with “pod” in your name then this is not good news for you.
-Bankrupt SCO is laying off employees. That’s a loss for SCO but a gain for local software companies that need developers in a bad way. *Don’t* take the SCO thing out on their employees - most companies I know don’t care where you worked before as long as you’re good. That’s probably the right attitude to take even in the case of SCO.
-”Let me sleep on it.” Complex decisions are best left to your unconscious mind to work out, according to a new study, and over-thinking a problem could lead to expensive mistakes. No kidding.Â
-We received four inches of snow in Heber early Thursday morning. That’s the earliest I’ve seen snow in Heber (I’ve lived there four years). I have a feeling its going to be a long, cold winter.
Have a nice weekend.
Um, a stab at “Pod” companies? That’s a “good” news story to follow. “O,” by the way, I like the new blog format.
Left by Russell on 10/19/2007@Russ:
Not a stab at all just a warning to be watching the market, which I’m sure most are.
Left by Chris Knudsen on 10/19/2007I didn’t even realize I messed up my joke before I posted it.
