Who is John Galt?

Posted by Chris Knudsen on August 3rd, 2007

He said he would stop the motor of the world and he did.

Atlas Shrugged is the greatest oration on the struggle of socialism vs capitalism of government vs. private industry of individualism vs. social fairness ever written.

I just finished listening to the book on CD. I’m going to listen to it again. Then I think I may pick up the book.

Brilliant doesn’t begin to describe it. Thank you, Ayn Rand.

  1. I was just telling Jody about Atlas Shrugged this evening, as we were listening to the Free Capitalist radio station and they had mentioned it. I want to reread Galt’s speech at the end, and Francisco’s speech on money, every year. Amazing stuff.

  2. Francisco’s speech on money is . . . well . . . money. You can’t deny the logic of it, and I think more people would benefit from reading it.

  3. I read Atlas Shrugged just after high school. I think it should be required reading - or maybe required listening, as few kids today will take on a 1200 page book.

Better yet, it should be yearly required reading for all of our politicians. Do you think they would get it?
