V|100 Luncheon, Mountainpalooza and vacation
I’ve got a couple of things to blog about so I thought I’d just throw them into one big post.
V|100 Luncheon
I just returned from the V|100 annual luncheon at Thanksgiving Point. It was a great event. Former Dell CEO, Kevin Rollins was the speaker. He delivered a speech on entrepreneurism and then took questions. The questions were heavy on the topic of globalization. I was interviewed by Rock Mountain Voices/Connectcast before the lunch started and I was asked the same question on globalization. Bottom line is that if you’re a business in Utah and you’re not thinking about expanding outside of the state and not looking for global opportunities/synergies (especially in China and India) then you’re missing the boat.
It was good to reconnect with a lot of people in one place. I sat next to Ryan Money - I haven’t seen him forever. I even ran into Richard Zinn who I met in my undergrad years ago. He didn’t remember me but oh well. Looks like Paul Allen is doing well with WorldVitalRecords. I reconnected with John Pestana from Omniture (nice Lamborghini by the way). JD Gardner was there as well and it was nice to catch up with him. Phil Burns told me the Utah New Media Conference is postponed but it looks like he’s going to get a cool new blog tool out the door in the very near future.
Overall it was a good time. Thanks again to V|Spring and those of you that elected me to the V|100.
Mountainpalooza
Mountainpalooza is on for Friday June 29th. We’ll meet about 2 pm at the ticket office and we’re off from there. Last month we had an incredible ride! We had about eight people along for the trip and it was a blast! Send me a email if you want to come. I’ll also put out a reminder a couple of days before.
Vacation
I’m going on vacation to Southern Utah and the Grand Canyon over the next week so if I don’t return your calls or emails that’s my excuse. I’ll catch up with you sometime on or after June 25th.
You’ll have give me your Grand Canyon advice upon your return. Lindsey and I are going next month (I’ve never been).
