Its Friday and that means its time for my now world famous Friday round up. Here we go…
Looks like Jason Calacanis is leaving AOL after one year of trying to turn the company into a Web 2.0 play. I am sure that Jason will go on to do huge things. My guess is a show along side Scoble at PodTech.
In other news, AOL still exists?
I moved my blog this week over to Blue Host. It was down for a day or two but we’re back in the saddle. If you ever need technical consulting from a guy who also gets business then give Jordy a call. The guy knows his stuff.
I had a catch up lunch with John Jonas this week. John has built some very interesting legitimate new Web apps. Check out his new beta keyword tool. Look for big things from John in the future. He is one of the primer SEO minds in the state.
Check out Josh Steimle calling out his competition with a very cool matrix of where the “big” players in Utah SEO stand on the search engines. If you are thinking about hiring an SEO firm you may want to check this out before you sign the deal.
Josh recently blogged about Utah blogs he likes to read. I made the list - thanks, Josh. Now how about some link love, baby!
Orem-based Blendtec made a huge splash on YouTube this week with its “will it blend” campaign. This is sure to go on to be a famous marketing case study. For just $50 the campaigns had millions of views of its cool blender shredding everything from golf balls, marbles and sticks. Check out the commentary on Rocky Mountain Voices. I wonder what the effect on sales has been?
Finally, 10Speed Media lost its last employee this week. What will Paul Allen do with the company now? I’ve had a lot of people tell me that they think I should blog about 10Speed and tell my side of the story. I have a lot of mixed emotions about this. Perhaps this is a subject that’s “not blogable“. What are your thoughts?
Of course it’s bloggable!
If anything, 10Speed Media is a case study. What was done right? What wasn’t done right? What was the business model? Have others done the same and been sucessful?
Left by Russell Page on 11/17/2006There are no bad ideas, just bad processes, management, or execution that get in the way of creating success. There are always lucky ones that become a success. But the majority take good blocking and tackling. I agee with Russell. Blog to inform us so we don’t make the same mistakes.

I agree that Chris ought to share about 10Speed. I do believe that there are some bad ideas though.
Pete
Left by Peter Abilla on 11/18/2006You should blog about it. Unless you signed something that prohibits disclosing things, or unless you’re afraid of really hurting your reputation, you’ve got nothing to loose.
Left by Jeremy Hanks on 11/18/2006You guys are like the little red devil sitting on my shoulder trying to egg me on. I’ll think about it.
Left by Chris Knudsen on 11/18/2006Go ahead and blog about 10Speed. I’d love to have your perspective on the whole situation.
